The Orca Browser Options allows you to tweak and modify virtually everything within Orca Browser, from your homepages to the right click context menu.
Using the Orca Browser Options is fairly straight forward. Simply select the catagory you wish to modify, and the options available to you, will be shown to the right of the catagory menu.
To access the Orca Browser Options, select the Tools menu, and click Orca Browser Options, just above Internet Options.Homepage
Please enter which page to use for your home page: Type in the address for the default page you want to appear when Orca first opens. You can hit Use Blank to choose a blank page or Use Current to choose the page in the current active browser. The entry field has a drop-down menu so you can choose pages you typed in previously.
Open Home page when Orca Browser Starts: If you un-check this option instead of Use Blank Orca will not open an active browser window when it starts. Checking it will let the home page you selected open when Orca browser starts.
Please enter extra startup pages: If you want additional pages to open on startup you may type in the address and hit Add. There is a drop-down on the entry field so you can choose pages you typed in previously.
To remove any you added simply select the one you wish to delete and hit the Delete button. Delete All will remove all the entries.
Open Extra Home pages when Orca Browser Starts: Check this option if you want the extra startup pages to show on startup and the Startup Mode option becomes available. You can choose how the extra startup pages open up.
- Maximize All: All pages open maximized.
- Tile Horizontally: All pages open on top of each other
- Tile Vertically: All pages open side by side.
- Cascade: All pages open cascaded
Browsing OptionsEnable Recently Opened Page List. If checked Orca Browser will show the recently opened page list.
Block Unwanted Pop-up Pages: If checked Orca Browser will block all unwanted pop-up pages and option Play the following sound file when blocking opens up. When checked Orca will play a sound each time it blocks a pop-up.
You may enter the path to a new sound, or hit "..." to browse to the file on your hard drive. Hit the speaker icon to hear the sound being played.
Disable Pictures: If checked Orca Browser will not download pictures.
Disable Flash Animations: If checked Orca Browser will not download Flash animations.
Disable Videos: If checked Orca Browser will not download videos.
Disable Sounds: If checked Orca Browser will not download background sounds.
Disable ActiveX: If checked Orca Browser will disable ActiveX components in web pages.
Disable Scripts: If checked Orca Browser will disable scripts in web pages.
Disable Java Applets: If checked Orca Browser will disable Java Applets in web pages.
Reset to Default: This button will restore the original Browsing Options settings.New Window
Please specify the default action for [New] button and press [CTRL+N] shortcut:
- Open a new blank page: The new page opened is blank.
- Open the current page in a new window: The new page opened is the same as in the active browser window.
- Open home page in a new window: Opens the home page in a new window.
Always create a new window for:
- Address Box: Typing a URL in the Address Box opens that that page in a new window.
- Bookmarks: Selecting a link from Favorites opens it in a new window.
- RSS
- Auto-Fill: Clicking Auto-Fill from the bar opens ie in a new window.
- Search Result: Searching results from the Search bar opens it in a new window.
- History: Clicking an entry from the list of previously visited sites in the History band opens it in a new window.
- Recently Closed: If checked Orca Browser will open recently closed pages in a new window.
Always create new browsing window in the:
- Foreground: Opening a new window moves makes the new window the active browser window.
- Background: New windows open behind the active browser window.
Close Window
Show close button on tabs
Show close button on all tabs: If checked all tabs will show the close button.
Show close button on active tab: If checked the active tab will show the close button.
Display confirmation for [Close All Windows]: If checked when you close all windows Orca Browser will display the confirmation.
Display confirmation for [Close All Except the Current]: If checked when you close all windows Orca Browsr will display the confirmation.
After closing the curren window:
- Activate the window last visited
- Activate the first window
- Activate the previous window
- Activate the next window
- Activate the last window
Mouse Buttons
Enable middle mouse button click to open a link in the web page: Check this option to allow the middle-button click will open a link in either the In the Foreground (in the active browser window) or In the Background (in a new browser window)
Enable the mouse wheel to swich tabs
Enable hold right button and use the mouse wheel to swich tabs
RSS
Show RSS Feeds Under Bookmarks: If checked the bookmarks will show RSS Feeds.After choosing number from the right drip-down menu, bookmarks will show the maximum number of message for each feed.
Automatically check for updates to RSS feeds: Orca Browser will check it automatically.
Show Notification Box for all Feeds: If there is a new feed , it will show the notification box.
Auto-Complete
Show Auto-Fill under bookmarks: If checked bookmarks will show Auto-Fill.
Enable Auto-Complete for web pages: Checking this option lists entries similar to those you have typed before in web page forms.
Promot to save logins
Tray Icon
Enable Tray Icon: turns on the Orca browser icon in the system tray.
- Minimize to system tray, when click [Minimize] button.
- Minimize to system tray, when click [Close] button.
- Show Orca Browser in Taskbar [need to restart Orca Browser]
It is not recommended to turning off the tray icon and the taskbar icon.
Files and Protocols
Use Orca Browser to open the following file types:
- *.url: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to open *.url files.
- *.htm; *.html: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to open *.htm and *.html files.
- *.mht; *.mhtml: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to open *.mht and *.mhtml files.
Use Orca Browser to handle the following protocols:
- ftp://: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to handle ftp sites.
- http://: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to handle http sites.
- https://: Checking this option makes Orca browser the default program to handle https sites.
Orca Browser should check to see whether it is the default web browser: Checking this option makes Orca Browser check to see if it is the default browser on your computer.
Set Orca Browser as the default web browser: Clicking this button makes Orca Browser the default browser on your computer.Email Client
Please specify the email client:
- Outlook Express: Checking this option makes Outlook Express the default email program.
- Other Program: Checking this option allows you to choose what the default email program. You can type in the location or hit Browse to look for it on your hard drive.
- Web Mail: Check this option to use a Web Mail account.
Proxy Server
Orca allows you to set up a proxy server for your Internet connection.
Address: Enter the address of the proxy server. Ex: localhost
Port: Enter the port number of the proxy server. Ex: 8080
Add button: Click this button to add the proxy server information to the list of possible proxy servers.
Import: Imports proxy settings. Most useful when switching to a new computer. Proxy settings for Orca browser can be found:In Windows 95, 98 or ME:

In Windows NT, 2000 or XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Orca BrowserDelete: Click this button to delete a selected proxy server entry from the list.
Delete All: Click this button to delete all proxy server entries from the list.Clear Records
Please choose the typed address you want to delete: you may delete a specific address from the list of addresses you typed in. The drop-down menu provides the full list of typed addresses.
Hit the Delete button to delete the entry.
You can specify what type of records to clear and keep.
- Typed Addresses: This option will clear the addresses you typed in the location bar.
- Recent Pages: This option will clear the list of Recent Pages.
- Auto-Complete Web Forms: This option will clear the data that is stored when you fill in a form on web pages.
- Auto-Complete Passwords: This option will clear the passwords that are automatically filled in with Auto-Complete.
- Cookies: This option will clear any cookies stored while browsing with Orca browser.
- History of Visited Web Pages: This option will clear the list of sites you visited.
- Temporary Internet Files: This option will clear the cache of Temporary Internet Files.
- Search Keywords: This option will to clear the list of search terms you entered in the Search bar.
- Blocked AD List: This option will to clear the Blocked AD list.
- Blocked Popup List: This option will clear the Blocked Pop-up list.
Clear Checked Item(s): Click this button to clear the checked items.
Automatically clear checked item(s) every time exit Orca Browser: All checked items will be cleared when exiting Orca browser.Search Engine
Standard Search
Choose the default search engine when using the Search bar or the Search band or the Address bar to search.
Please choose the server you would like to use for search: You can choose which Google server Orca browser will use. The drop-down menu has a list of Google servers from many different countries.
Please choose the encoding character set you will use for keywords: You can choose which character set to use when entering search terms. The drop-down menu has a list of different encoding sets.
Display search results in the following language: You can choose what language Orca browser will return search results in. The drop-down menu has a list of languages available.Quick Search
By typing in a shortcut and then search terms, you can search the Internet using various search engines.
Add: Type in a shortcut for that engine and hit Enter. The cursor will move over to the URL field. To add another search engine, simply run a search on that engine, copy the URL, and replace the search terms with %s. Then type or paste that in the URL field.
Edit: Select an entry and hit Edit to alter the URL and shortcut.
Delete: Select an entry and hit Delete to remove the engine from the list.URL Alias
By typing in an alias in the Address bar, you can quickly access a URL.
Add: If you wish to add another URL Alias, type in an alias, hit Enter. The cursor will move to the URL field. Type a URL there.
Edit: Select an entry and hit Edit to alter the URL or alias.
Delete: Select an entry and hit Delete to remove the alias from the list.Popup Blocker
Black List
When Popup Blocker is enabled, all Popups that match the following rules will be blocked.
Add: Adds an address to the Popups Black List. After clicking type in or paste in the address. Use ? to replace a single character and * to represent a series of characters. Ex: *russfakesite?.com prevents popups that originate from russfakesite.com as well as AAArussfakesiteA.com.
Edit: Select an entry and click this button to edit the address.
Delete: Select an entry and click this button to delete it.
Enable Popup Blocker: Turns the Pop-up Blocker on.Exception List:
When Popup Blocker is enabled, all Popups that match the following rules will not be blocked.
Use this list if Orca is blocking a pop-up you wish to see or mistaking something you wish to see as an unwanted Pop-up.
The buttons and option are same as in the Black List.Display the URL of blocked popup windows
When enabled, this option will display a tooltip in the lower corner of the screen with the URL of each blocked popup window.
AD Blocker
Black List
When AD Blocker is enabled, all contents that match the following rules will be blocked.
Add: Adds an address to the Popups Black List. After clicking type in or paste in the address. Use ? to replace a single character and * to represent a series of characters. Ex: *russfakesite?.com prevents popups that originate from russfakesite.com as well as AAArussfakesiteA.com.
Edit: Select an entry and click this button to edit the address.
Delete: Select an entry and click this button to delete it.
Enable AD Blocker: Turns the AD Blocker on.
Allow Orca Browser to replace blocked AD images: AD images are replaced by an image Orca Browser provides.Exception List:
When AD Blocker is enabled, all ADs that match the following rules will not be blocked.
Use this list if Orca is blocking an AD you wish to see or mistaking something you wish to see as an AD.
The buttons and option are same as in the Black List.Display the URL of blocked ADs
When enabled, this option will display a tooltip in the lower corner of the screen with the URL of each blocked AD.
Right Click Menu
Please choose the menu items you want to display in the Right-Click Menu: Check the options below to have them appear in the right-click context menu.
- Add to AD Black List: Right-click on an image and choose this option to add the URL of the image to AD Black List.
- Block All Images from the Same Server: Right-click on an image and choose this option to add images from its home server from the to the AD Black List.
- Search: Searches for text selected on a web page.
- Highlight: Select text on a web page and right-click this option to highlight all matches for the selected text.
- Open All Links in This Page...: All links on a page are opened in new windows.
- Open In New Orca Browser: The page is opened in new Orca Browser.
You need to restart Orca Browser for these options to take effect.
Miscellaneous
Show splash screen when Orca Browser starts: Check to let the Orca Browser Splash screen appear on startup.
Hide splitter bar when the side bar is closed: check to hide the splitter bar.
Auto hide the top panel in FullScreen/Desktop Mode: When selecting FullScreen/Desktop (F11 or F12) the top panel will not be shown unless you hover your mouse at the top.
Auto hide the bottom panel in FullScreen/Desktop Mode: When selecting FullScreen/Desktop (F11 or F12) the bottom panel will not be shown unless you hover your mouse at the bottom.
Auto-hide the left side panel in Full Screen/Desktop Mode: When selecting FullScreen/Desktop (F11 or F12) the left side panel will not be shown unless you hover your mouse at the left.
Enable Orca Browsing error page: Check to enable the OrcaFind (www.Orcafind.com) error page.
Show underline for the active tab: Show underline for the active tab.
Show underline for unread tabs: Show underline for unread tabs.
Show "Open All Links in This Group": Shows this option in the list of Group links when the above option is checked. If the above option is not checked, clicking a Group name will open all links in that Group.
Show "Open All Favorites in This Folder": Shows this option under the Favorites Menu and in Favorites folders. Opens all favorites stored in the specified folder.
Show "Open All Feeds in This Folder": Shows this option under the Feeds Menu and in Feeds folders. Opens all feeds stored in the specified folder.
Show "Open All Recently Opened Pages": Shows this option under File > Open Recent. Opens all recently opened pages in new browser windows.
Show "Clear Recently Opened Page List": Shows this option under File > Open Recent.
Show "Open All Home Pages": This activates a drop-down menu on the Home button on the main bar.
Show progress bar bar on tabs: Load progress will be shown on the tabs.
Create new tab next to current tab: A new tab will open next to the active tab.
Show floating toolbar for selected text: Shows floating toolbar when selecting text on a webpage.
Show floating toolbar for picture: Shows floating toolbar when hovering your mouse over images on a webpage.
Show floating toolbar for flash: Shows floating toolbar when hovering your mouse over flash movies on a webpage.
Notify me when there is a new version available: Notifies you via a prompt when a new version of Orca Browser is released.
Use IE Favorites as bookmarks:Use IE Favorites as Orca's bookmarks.
Automatically upgrade to a new version if applicable: Automatically downloads and installs the latest version of Orca Browser.
Exiting
Please specify the action when exiting Orca Browser:
- Prompt to save all opened pages when exiting: Before exiting Orca browser you are asked if you want to save open pages.
- Automatically save all open pages when exiting: When exiting Orca browser save all open pages.
- Always exit Orca Browser directly: Exit Orca browser without delay.
Online Storage
Please choose the items you would like to be saved online:
- Bookmarks: If checked Bookmarks will be saved online.
- RSS Feeds: If checked RSS Feeds will be saved online.
- Auto-Fill: If checked Auto-Fill will be saved online.
